Start with a city tour in Jordan's capital. Amman, already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbath Ammon, is a bustling modern city. The historical places are located in downtown, where we visit the Citadel with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period. Then we have a round in the Archaeological Museum, housing an excellent collection like several Dead Sea Scrolls. Day 2:Amman Hotel-Mt Nebo-Madaba-Kerak-Petra Hotel(B,L,D)

After breakfast drive to Mt. Nebo, the place where Prophet Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died. You visit the old monastery and overlook the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and parts of the Holy Land. After we proceed to Madaba, where to find the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St.George's church. Driving along the famous ancient caravan route the King's Way, we have a short stop in Wadi Al-Mujib, a great wide valley with magnificent geological formation. In Kerak visit the famous Crusader castle built in 1132/34 by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem. Continue to Petra hotel, check in and overnight. Lunch & dinner Local Restaurant

Day 3:Petra visit-Petra Hotel(B,L,D)

After breakfast to the red rose city Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundation of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. With the guide pass the canyon, the so called Siq, to see the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. Day 4:Petra Hotel-Wadi Rum-Aqaba Hotel(B,L,D)

In the morning we drive 1.5 hours southwards to the protected area of Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. Here still Bedouins live in a traditional way, and by 4x4 Jeep tour you discover canyons, sand dunes and Nabatean rock inscriptions. Day 5 :Aqaba Round-Dead Sea Hotel(B,L,D)

Leisurely morning, visiting the Mameluk Fort, the bazaars, after lunch we drive 3.5 hours to the Dead Sea hotel.With 400 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth, where ever since the days of Herod the Great, people have flocked to in search of its curative secrets. The area is characterized by high annual temperatures, low humidity and high atmospheric pressure, the air is extremely oxygen rich. Jordan boasts a Mediterranean climate that is ideal for year-round holidays

Shorts are rarely worn by either sex, and would be out of place in the downtown Amman area. Topless sunbathing is prohibited and one-piece swimsuits are preferred, although two-piece swimsuits are acceptable at hotel pools.

RAMADAN

Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, the date of which varies according to the Islamic lunar calendar. During Ramadan, alcohol is not sold, except in larger hotels. Eating, drinking, and smoking in public is discouraged during the hours of daylight. Most stores, banks and offices open late at 09:00, and close early at 14:00; other businesses have limited hours.

SHOPPING

Jordan is renowned as a shopping destination and presents a lively blend of modern and traditional items. Browsing through souqs as well as big malls in Jordan can be a lot of fun and may turn into something of a social occasion. In small shops particularly, it is not unusual to be offered a cup of coffee or tea before getting down to business. The souq is one of the remaining places where the tradition of bargaining or haggling over the price is still observed, so practice your negotiation skills and pick up a bargain!Shopping hours are flexible.Some shops are open from 09:30-13:30 and 15:30 -18:00. Others may be open longer, from 08:00 -20:00. Many shops close on Friday, but the Souq does not. Please note that while Jordan has a sizeable handicrafts industry, it also boasts many modern, high-tech shopping outlets, offering the very latest trends in fashion and technology.

Gold & Silver

Jordan is famous for its dazzling variety of handmade gold and silver items, much of them 24-karat and generally sold by weight at prices much lower than any other country. Look for bargains in more than 50 shops in Amman's Gold Souq, downtown just off King Faisal Street. Silver and amber are good buys as well.

Crafts

Traditional crafts are making inroads in the world of high fashion. Starting in the 1970s, a handful of enterprising women began to match traditional Jordanian and Palestinian needlework with rich Middle Eastern fabrics, creating elegant gowns and jackets with a modern flare. Today you can find well-tailored vests, shirts and handbags trimmed in delicate needlework.

LANGUAGE

While Arabic is the official language in Jor dan, English is also widely spoken. When Arabic is written using the Lati n alphabet, English spelling is applied. However, these spellings can be i nterpreted in various ways and the spelling of street addresses, for example, ca n vary widely

Climate/Weather

Jordan is characterized by a Mediterranean climate ideal for year-round holidays. Best travel time is spring and autumn, as summer is hot and sunny, especially in Aqaba and at the Dead Sea. These two areas are in turn ideal for a winter break due to the mild temperatures (16-22 ℃) in this season. In the rest of the country winter weather can be cool, with rain and occasional snow. Jordan is a very sunny country with average daily sunshine hours ranging from six to seven in winter and twelve to thirteen in summer. Although summer temperatures are high, the nights are rather cool.

Money

The official currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JD), which is divided into 100 piastres or 1,000 fils. Notes are in denominations of JD 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1. Coins are in denominations of JD 1, 1/2 and 1/4; 10, 5, 2 and 1/2 piastres. Foreign currency can be changed at any bank, moneychanger or better hotel. Banks are closed on Fridays and American Express, Visa, MasterCard are the most widely accepted credit cards and can be used at major hotels, restaurants and tourist shops. ATMs are available in larger towns. Traveller's Cheques are accepted by licensed banks and bureaux de change.
